Trajectories from AIS data

Based on the AIS data provided by the BAW (WP 4400) and the maneuvering models developed in WP 7100, methods are developed to forecast concrete trajectories of individual ships from a history given by AIS data. The maneuvering models are to be adapted for this purpose and, if necessary, generically parameterized. The intended procedure is similar to an indirect system identification, but using AIS data. Although the has no knowledge about the maneuvering processes of the foreign ships (rudder angle, rudder speed, etc.). of the foreign ships (rudder angle, etc.). By means of the generic parameterization of the maneuvering models maneuvering models of the foreign ships in connection with specific analyses of the AIS data. and situation-dependent maneuvering forecasts with predictions of the course of the track. course can be carried out. Since the ship in the real situation always receives new AIS data, the algorithms are developed in such a way that they allow a correction of the forecast after analysis of further AIS data. analysis of further AIS data. In the future, it would also be possible to integrate further sensors into the the procedure (e.g. LIDAR) would be possible.
